Lumineers® are a revolutionary type of veneer that not only creates a beautiful smile but due to their state-of-the-art technology, little to no preparation is needed to the surface of the tooth. This is due to them being ultra-thin, (approximately 0.2 mm) custom-made, translucent shells, meaning they match the appearance of natural teeth, giving you a fabulously genuine and stunning smile.

Lumineers® are a great solution for a range of dental issues such as stained, chipped, eroded, and misaligned teeth, but they can be used to revitalise an old crown or bridgework; and having them fitted is very simple because little or none of the tooth structure has to be altered or removed.

Lumineers Treatment Process

Choosing Lumineers® in London will typically involve patients attending around two visits, which is a quicker and easier result for you than porcelain veneers. Lumineers® remove the need for anaesthetic or drilling to change the shape and appearance of your natural teeth, making appointment time stress-free and comfortable.

Appointment one

On the first visit, you and the dentist will work together to decide on the colour of your Lumineers® and an impression will be taken of your teeth. This will assist the highly skilled laboratory technicians to handcraft your Lumineers® with precision, ensuring they match your real teeth and suit you perfectly. This also ensures that your Lumineers® are a flawless fit.

At this stage, we also create exceptional-looking temporary veneers, which give you a fantastic visualisation and preview of the final look of your new smile.

Appointment two

Once the Lumineers® have been made in the lab, your new Lumineers® are checked for fit and shade, and then painlessly attached.

The natural teeth will be slightly etched to help the Lumineers® adhere, and once fitted, will be set in place using a curing light. This procedure is entirely painless, does not damage the natural teeth, and should be completed in around an hour.

In just two appointments the procedure is complete, and you will walk away with your dream smile.

Porcelain Veneers

Hand-crafted by our carefully selected dental laboratories, ultra-thin porcelain veneers offer a natural look to improve the overall appearance of your teeth. Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic solution to worn or chipped teeth and discoloured smiles and are also suitable for realigning crooked teeth and smiles.

Lumineers™

Ultra-thin (approx. 0.2 mm) custom-made shells that are translucent, making them look very close to the appearance of natural tooth enamel. Lumineers require minimal preparation, don’t damage the natural teeth, and if dentally suitable, the process can be completed in as little as two visits.

Zeneers™

The leading brand of zirconia veneers. Zirconia is porcelain that contains around 90% zirconium oxide forming one of the strongest and most durable veneers on the market. The semi-translucent appearance means that they are virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth and are available as full or partial crowns.

It does depend on the current state of your teeth, not everyone’s teeth are suitable for Lumineers. However this can only be answered by our dentists after they have seen you for a full consultation. Lumineers are ultra-thin veneers which require minimal preparation to the natural tooth, therefore if you have a lot of discolouration, substantial chips or cracks then it might not be the veneer treatment for you. Still, we have plenty of other cosmetic treatment options which the dentist can discuss with you during your visit.

The cost of Lumineers® is dependent on the current state of your oral health and if any further dental work is necessary for a healthy and beautiful smile. Whilst there is a range of advantages to opting for either traditional veneers or Lumineers, for some patients, Lumineers can be the preferred choice for a number of reasons. It’s important to recognise that both veneers and Lumineers in the UK can be used to treat a range of common cosmetic issues, including:

Stained teeth
Chipped teeth
Teeth that appear “too small”
Teeth with gaps between them
Misaligned teeth

It’s also important to note that here at The London Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry, we always ensure your veneers and Lumineers are made bespoke to you in our lab. So, whatever the option you choose, you’re going to get a fantastic end result.

But there are some differences that can make Lumineers more appealing to some patients, including the fact that Lumineers are a lot thinner than traditional veneers. At just 0.2mm, they come out about half as thin as normal veneers, making them much easier when it comes to the application process, and therefore less invasive.

In fact, more often than not, none of your natural teeth will require removing before you have Lumineers fitted, so if you ever change your mind about your teeth, you can easily revert back to your natural smile without issue.

Another huge benefit that makes Lumineers in London such a popular option over veneers is their ultra-durable material, making them very hard to break and even more long-lasting. With proper maintenance, you can expect your Lumineers o last up to 20 years, which is considerably longer than normal veneers.

Like any type of veneer, Lumineers can improve the appearance of your smile, and protect your natural tooth from further damage if you’ve struggled with that in the past. However, they’re not a viable solution for everyone, and our dentist will need to meet with you and assess your teeth, as well as your dental history before determining whether Lumineers would be the best fit for you and your teeth.

It’s possible, but it’s highly unlikely. The truth is that any type of dental veneer can come loose or fall off, and this isn’t exclusive to Lumineers in London.
