Our Hygienists
Kate, Bernita, Jane and Maria are the heartbeat of the practice. Patients love coming in for their hygiene appointments and the team loves seeing them.
Maria Hallihan
Her special interests are supporting nervous patients and special needs care. Outside of work her interests are keeping fit and travelling. Maria takes part in various races including obstacles races and 10 km runs; and 100km ultra races. Let us know if you want to join her on an ultra race! Maria began her dental career in 1992 when she trained as a dental nurse. After a number of years she progressed onto an Oral Health Promotion before deciding to study Dental Therapy and Hygiene.
Kate Bourne
Kate has been working in the dental field now for over 25 years. Her love of the profession inspired her to become qualified as a dental hygienist from Guys, Kings and St Thomas’s in 2002. This has allowed Kate to continue to improve her skills and help patients achieve their dental goals.
She enjoys all aspects of her job and takes pride in having a friendly and gentle approach to dental hygiene. She has found that this makes the appointment as relaxing as possible for her patients. Her treatments range from simple periodontal maintenance and prevention to deeper involved treatments. She also provides oral hygiene advice. Outside of work she loves spending time with her family and her young twins.
Jane Hogben
Jane qualified as a dental hygienist from Guys, Kings and St Thomas’s. She has a wealth of experience working with halitosis and periodontal disease, and provides extensive knowledge to her patients to help them improve their oral health. Jane’s friendly and calming manner makes her a great choice for nervous patients. Outside of work Jane enjoys running, spinning and spending time with her young family.
Bernita Shelley
Bernita is an experienced Dental Hygienist having qualified from The Eastman Dental Hospital in 2006. Her love for supplementing cosmetic procedures with preventative oral care helped Bernita to achieve cosmetic enhancements for her patients that were based upon a sound healthy foundation.
This inspired her to develop a keen interest in facial rejuvenation and she now provides a complete facial aesthetics service including Teeth Whitening, Anti-ageing injections and Dermal fillers. This has been met with much success in the practice and has become very popular amongst patients who want to compliment their cosmetic dentistry with facial enhancements.
